Jimmy Englund, one of our favorite Sprintcrowd coaches sat down with us to answer five quick questions about health and his style of training:
1.What do you teach and how long have you been teaching?
In the last decade, I have made running my main focus. In addition to running groups, I also teach strength training and yoga (mainly yin yoga). Besides coaching, I teach at a personal trainer school and am a physiotherapist with a passion for health, rehab, and training. I’m passionate about helping people become the best versions of themselves and I’m always looking for ways to help people improve their health and wellbeing.
2.Why do you do what you do? Why is corporate health important and what is health?
When it comes to running, swimming, cycling, and other sports, I hope to inspire my audience to experience more than just outcomes. Living a healthy lifestyle and exercising regularly should become a way of life and can be achieved by setting achievable goals, having a supportive community, and having fun while exercising. It is also important to take the time to appreciate the results of one’s hard work. Taking time to celebrate your successes and reflect on how far you have come can be a powerful motivator to keep going.
3. Do you have any tips for everyday life?
Exercise doesn’t have to be complicated. Instead of taking the bus home from work, run or walk and plan some time with friends afterwards. Set small goals, such as exercising for 30 minutes three times a week, and gradually increase them as you become more comfortable. Find an activity that motivates you and stick with it. Finally, don’t forget to reward yourself for your progress.
4. What is your favorite quote?
John Muir — ‘I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.’
5. Whats your teaching style?
Educative and humorous. My aim is to simplify complex subjects and use humor to lighten the mood.
